: what good is my happiness! It is poverty and wretched self-complaceny. But my happiness should justify my existence itself! Nietzche wrote in Thus Spake Zarathustra. i believe that happiness is the highest good becuase my value premise is hedonism (Utilitarean or selfish) finite and fleeting as it is. the reason why hedonism is an acceptable value premise is because all moral/ethical philosophies have held happiness as their end, although extrinsic happiness has almost always taken value above intrinsic happiness( it's much more dignified). psychological hedonism has been the motivating force for human actions to the point where it is generally accepted as logical to seek happiness and avoid pain. go pleasure(base or epicurean!!!!!!!!!!!!!
