I'd been thinking in terms of pubs that both have discerning and fairly tough editorial standards (tastes & genre notwithstanding) and which afford the opportunity to both read and submit.

: 'Prestige' seems to conjure up a host of requirements which a few posters seem to reduce to maters of arguable 'taste/edge'. I've yet to see a site, Jacket and Slate included, that didn't present a 'mixed bag' depending on the reader. But I am surprised that none mentioned 'Non' which I find one of the most consistently(but not always) flawless productions. For that matter, Snakeskin does stuff that nobody else touches - particular in humor - & which I'd give pretty high marks.
