The communities I've encountered online tend to be
made up mostly of writers, either professionally or
by inclination, and people who spend a great deal of
time sitting around (like me) thinking about making
art. Perhaps it's just that computers are hostile to
movement and that's what alienates movement-oriented
types.

The Catch-22 is that unless these people become
involved the technology they could use won't
develop and they won't get involved until the
technology is useful to them.

But then it will be just as easy for them to
ignore MSNBC in the future as it has been to
ignore Chalkboard and other forums.
