Jacket is Australian and Slate, corporate, yes but run by Pinsky-- at least the poetry part and he's doing as much for poetry as anyone on the web. What I consider prestigious on the web is a zine that draws the print readers to log on, that attracts enough attention from outside the web. The rest are very inclusive-- there's a trend of names that follows each. These zines, the one I mention, move beyond that.

I will check out URU. Thanks!

: Wouldn't want to be the one to start up a poetry zine? There are so many. More poetry zines than there ants in Central Park. The whole idea of putting a email address and having thousands of young poets zap you, sending along inchoate verses would put a scare in anybody?

: Isn't Slate a corporate zine? Your list is somewhat arbritrary, pale like most lists--the zines have not been going all that long. Blue Moon is an interesting zine. But not all that much of a revelation.

: And of course our tastes are centered around american tastes. Our prejudice toward our own circles.

: Suggest you take a look at a zine recently mentioned at Reverie. URU...I thought it a knockout. A delightful surprise. And quite the source of innovation and good poetry...
